How We Started
A multi-faceted approach
In 2015, the first Healthcare Surfaces Summit was held. The Summit began with 10-minute lightening talks from each of the experts, who were asked the same three questions:
- What are the top 3 issues related to the spread of infection via environmental surfaces?
- What are the hurdles to success?
- What should be done immediately?
As each person presented their answers to these questions, it became clear not all areas of the problem were being looked at to find effective solutions. Those in attendance identified four initiatives to work on and Initiative Workgroups were formed. Within each workgroup are experts from infection prevention, facilities management, environmental services, manufacturing, academia, research, and regulatory. Additionally, each of the groups will cross collaborate as the project work moves forward.
Our "Initiative Workgroups" develop solutions, best practices, and research hypotheses to support the development of scientific evidence-based best practice recommendations that support policy and regulatory change.
Each workgroup is comprised of a wide range of experts to examine the problem as it pertains to:
- Science & Research
- Legal Regulations
